Anyone try the new M-Audio FW Beta Drvrs (10.4.11 - 10.5.2)?

Just curious, and I figured quite a few people hadn't seen that they had released these yet. Might help out some folks running Leopard....

There were some people on another forum who were reporting problems with the beta driver, but it looks like they've updated the version #; so if anybody is having problems, uninstall the driver and re-download the beta from M-Audio and give this new version a try.

I have on 2 systems. One works, one doesn't.

The full story:

Mac Pro 2xdual core 2.66, 5gb ram, m-audio FW1814 OS X 10.5.1 [now 10.5.2]

I heard good reports of FW1814 drivers for OS X 10.4.10 working in Leopard so went ahead... it worked-everything running smoothly until... I tried installing Pro Tools m-powered 7.3 [after also hearing good reports]. Ever since this every time I boot up with the soundcard plugged in I get a Kernel panic.

I've tried uninstalling PT and no luck. I've tried the new beta driver-no change.

M-audio tech support are going to call me sometime tonight (supposedly).

tonight I tried it on my MacBook Pro [2.4, 4gb ram OS X 10.5.2]
don't know why it took me so long to do it-but it works fine.
Hadn't installed any m-audio or PT software since doing a full delete/install of Leopard. Tried with the new beta drivers, and it works nearly perfectly. Haven't tested fully, but the only issue I had first time I booted was needing to change the sample rate settings to hear sound.

I'm thinking it must be PT related, but m-audio say it can't be-PT software shouldn't effect it either way.

Just to clarify... I have NOT installed PT m-powered 7.3 on my laptop. FW1814 works fine.

The new driver works fine with PTMP 7.4cs2 and my Firewire 410 on 10.5.2.

"kernel panic" means a system crash where you need to reboot the machine (mostly "force reboot" = hold down the power button for a few seconds) - you are a lucky guy if you never have seen that before, i get it sometimes when hot-plugging fw drives.

Are you also running a Kore controller? Or any other usb/FW sound/midi devices?

I've isolated my issue to being directly related to my NI Kore [1]. If both are plugged in I get a kernel panic on login.

Since finding that out I've managed to get PT M-powered running in 10.5.2 as well.

I've noticed one bug in the new beta so far: to get sound coming through you have to change the sample rate in the control panel after each login.
