HELP! Sudden error - Possible RAM problem

Last week while finishing a mix Pro Tools stopped and gave me a message stating that DAE needed more memory and to allocate more memory to DAE. I quit Pro Tools and opened the info box for DAE. The numbers looked way off from where they should be set. Minimum size was 100,000 and preferred size was 30,000. I set them back to minimum 13000 & preferred 25000. I had been working for hours (and was bouncing my 3rd pass of the mix I'd been working on) when the problem arose. I have been unable to work since that moment. The problem seems to be with plugins (TDM or RTAS). I can't open old sessions. I can make new sessions, but can only open a handful of plugins before errors start popping up. Even with no audio recorded or imported I get error 7054 (Plug in could not be made active) & error 7053 (Encountered while trying to display the Plug In in the Plug In window. DAE may be running low on memory). With the last error, it will add the plug in, and it appears active, but it can't show the plug in on the screen. It appears as a blank box. The strangest error happens when I try to open old sessions. It has no error number and simply says "Fic object nil while translating tracks." The error pops up while building the session. After this error, Pro Tools shuts down.

I suspect my RAM may have gone bad, but can't find a way to scan my Mac and test the RAM. I'm running OS 9.2, Pro Tools version 5.1.1. I have 1 GB of RAM (256MB,512MB,256MB) and 800MHz PowerPC G4.

Re: HELP! Sudden error - Possible RAM problem

Could be a corrupt or expired plug-in, or the memory settings. Do a Support Search for 7053 or 7054 (leave out the - since it's used by the search engine to omit terms).

1) You could try removing 'extra' (non-digirack) plug-ins to see if the error persists.

2) You should not change the Minimum Memory Size setting in Get Info. If you did, you can reset it by typing 0 in that field and then closing the Get Info window.

3) As far as memory test utils for OS 9, RAMCheck is in our Download Archive and others could be found through VersionTracker or other download sites.
