Worthless error "unable to initialize the..."
 

Had this one this morning, booted as normal, running PTHD9 and at the final initialization of the audio hardware, received something to the note of "unable to initialize the chosen audio hardware...yada, yada"...

Thought this was related to my dual boot installation I did last night, so I did a complete reinstall on the core partition, same issue...noticed that the splash screen was PT9, not PTHD9...

Then it occurred, I'd pulled the iLok key from the usb to test another usb key device...replacing the iLok key solved the problem. It had NOTHING to do with the audio device, but had everything to do with an iLok authentication.

IMHO, a worthless error message...as it didn't point to the culprit at all.

Actually... It's quite correct, since you can't use your TDM hardware without a PTHD license.
