active vs passive monitors? monitor choice?
 

a quick survey...do you recommend active or passive monitors and why? also, a friend suggested ns-10s to me. what would all of you kind, wise people suggest for a budget of $500 or less...if that is feasible? thanks in advance.

But do search the DUC... much provocative, sure at times passionate, but level headed and unbiased dialogue concerning good quality monitors.
NS10s are also mentioned.

Search and find more info than you'll ever need.
E-bay usually has several pairs of new and used NS-10's.
