Pro Tools 8 Upgrade/compatibility question from a rookie
I am running Pro Tools 8 on windows Vista laptop, and it works fine for what I am doing, very basic recording. I am wondering what my options are for buying a new computer? I see 8 is not compatible beyond Vista, — do I need to get to PT 12.5 or higher if I buy a new computer with Win 10? I just need some guidance on an upgrade path, appreciate any wisdom out there?

Mac guy here, but I'm pretty certain the short answer to your question is; PT8 will never work on any new W10 computer you buy. Neither will your mbox, I think.
So, keep your old laptop system as it is, and just prepare to build a new one from the ground up. You'll need a new interface and PT12. Not sure if there is a upgrade from 8 to 12 or if it's full price... (I say PT12, but of course it's PT2018 now.) |
