virus on avid download
Tried to download the latest Ultimate release today, and the new driver that comes with, but Windows virus detector would not allow the HD Driver 2024.3 to download.
Twice. |
Re: virus on avid download
I've seen similar a few times over the past year or so. I just disable Windows Defender(or whatever you use) and download/install. If you're really paranoid, I suppose you could scan the download before running, but that might also raise a flag. I doubt there is anything to worry about for any download from Avid's site(guessing you are downloading from within your MyAvid account>My Products?):o

Re: virus on avid download
I downloaded (via latest Firefox) and installed to an up to date Windows 11 and MS antivirus crapware was on and did not complain. I turned it on just to see, since it's normally off since it is the virus.
It stopped you downloading or installing? And for a separate driver installer? Or the one in the Pro Tools bundle? |
Re: virus on avid download
Installed on latest Win10 today. MS antivirus was on. No issues downloading and installing.
Are you sure your antivirus is up to date? |
HD Driver 2024.3 - virus detected - Windows Defender
Anyone else having trouble downloading and opening the zip file for the new HD Driver?
I'm on Windows 10. Windows Defender sees it as a severe threat. Tried different browsers. Got it to the desktop once but then 7zip wouldn't open it and then Windows Defender promptly trashed it. The message I'm briefly getting from Defender is that it contains: Trojan:Script wacatac (there's more but Defender is so aggressive taking it away I can't see the rest) |
Re: HD Driver 2024.3 - virus detected - Windows Defender
Just disable Defender until you finish the install.

Re: virus on avid download
Yeah, sure. But even Avid Link is showing the file as corrupted. I'm a bit concerned there's actually a problem with the download.
Edit: I see that this got moved to another thread and that others have seen this. I went ahead and installed it and will report back if anything seems amiss. |
