9173 Graphics Issues
 

Hi Guys,

I recently updated to High Sierra 10.13.6 from Sierra. Now I have very slow graphics while using the Slate Raven in protools.

Is there any kind of work around or is my GTX 750ti graphic card underpowered?

I noticed also if I have a quite large mix and I open Slate VMR it causes protools to throw a 9173 error if I open it on playback. It's definitely graphics related to these plugins in combination with the graphics the Raven uses.

If I don't use the Raven I don't get the errors on the same session while opening the plugins. It seems like the graphics are now too much of a load. On Sierra I could have much larger sessions before getting any kind of errors.

Anyone else seeing anything like this?

I updated to 10.13.6 as well and I have a flashed 980ti, some how my graphics driver reverted back to the Mac graphic driver instead of the Nvidia web driver even though I updated the web driver, I most likely am stating the obvious but for me the 10.13.6 and web driver have been the best combo so far in High Sierra. I am not using the Raven though, but go to system prefs Nvidia and make sure you are up to date on the web driver and select it and reboot.

Thanks for the input. Yes the web driver is up to date and being used. I guess I need a card with a bit more power or ram? What's a safe bet you think something in the 1000 series?

Be safe. Get the radeon rx580 pulse 8gig. Qualified by apple for osx Mojave. It's under 200 bucks on Ebay.

Just make sure you keep an old card that allows boot screen. The new cards don't have boot screen. In case you need to option startup disk. You have to put in old card.
