Most Stable OS/PT Version Combo?

I'm currently on 10.2.8 and 6.1

Latey, I've been getting an unacceptable amount of unexpected quits. Going through digi's trouble shooting steps keeps me clean for a week or 2, and then...

I've read post where some of you say you never get these quits. I've been holding out for a while on the updates. What's the most stable combo at this time?

My set up is in my signature, but let me know if you require more info in order to offer suggestions.

Thanks!

So they gradually get worse and then you do some housekeeping and they get better again?

It's not really a gradual thing. Usually, I'll get a quit. Lazily, I'll re-open the session and try to continue to work, saving every few minutes, then it will quit again, and again until I clean up. I'll do some house cleaning. Everything will be OK for a few weeks and than the quits come again. Sometimes they come in flurries if I don't clean things up.

Though I know I should always clean things up after this happens, occasionally I get away without going through those steps. Something else has to be wrong. There are some that never get these quits.

I have another thread up re: 2nd drive dedicated to audio. Is this something that would help, or is more likely something else?

Well I'm new to the 002R but the second drive is pretty much a necessity. I don't know if it will solve the problem but it can't hurt. I used that same computer with an ultra ATA 7200 rpm for 6 months with a 001 with no quits. Actually one that I narrowed down to Autotune.

I thinks its safe to say that a second drive is a step in the right direction that may solve the problem.

We're still running OS9.2.2 and PTle5.2.1 with an 001 on a dual !ghz G-4 QS, with 3-WD 8mb cache drives, one for system and two for audio and backup, and it is rock solid.

Yes, 9.2.2/PT5 was the last truely 'solid' combo for me as well. I am hoping that someday, PT6 will be that solid.

I'm running the same on a G-4 800 and it's so solid. I just get to do music, uninterrupted, and nothing could be finer.

I also am running 9.2, and 5.2 1, and it is solid and I''ll stay there till I go to a Mix Plus, however no need when things are running as well as they are. I had 6.1 running in OS10 and removed it. No regrets.

I miss my OS9/PT5 system!! If my machiene was a dual boot, I would run OS9 just for PT5 and do everything else in Panther!!

I just made a jump tonight, switching from 10.2.8 with PT's 6.1 to 10.3.2 and PT's 6.2.2. Did first tests with my 867 G4 powerbook and so far no problems (knocking on wood). I guess I will find out any problems during next weeks sessions.
