MP9 Playback issue

Hey Guys,

I have pro tools MP9, I used to use it all the time, but I stopped for a bit.

Unfortunately as I have started trying to use it again I'm getting a very strange 8 bit computer noise on all my playback. (Almost like an old dial up connection) Even stranger this issue does not effect the actual recording, which is great! The problem is playback is very difficult to listen to and very annoying, as you can imagine.

I have uninstalled pro tools every way possible and reinstalled several times with no luck. I have also tried uninstalling drivers and using the different versions available, but again no luck. If anyone has had this problem or has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it!. Thanks in advance.

Best,

You don't mention what interface you are using, but one solution for this kind of problem is to use balanced cables from your interface to your monitors.

I am using the m-audio fast track pro. Its direct USB, with headphones directly plugged in, no monitors.

Hmmm, that is a problem. Does it do the same thing if you use the interface with other apps or for Mac sounds?

Does it do it when used with a different computer?

Thanks for your quick reply, I appreciate it!

Unfortunately, yes to all of the above.

I spoke with a few guitar center techs that are having the same problem, but theirs goes away when they un-plug(shut-down) the fast track pro and turn it back on. Mine was able to do this as well a few months ago, but now it always has the playback issue.

thanks,

I've noticed this happening on a laptop with the power adapter plugged in. Unplugging it made the sound go away. Other than that I would suggest trying a different USB cable and/or port. Also make sure you are using the appropriate driver for your software and OS: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...ck-Pro-Drivers
