Try changing the max recording length to a smaller amount, you may have it set to use all available space. as soon as you hit record it creates the files using the max size. When you stop recording it gets shortened to the actual size of the data.

You didn't mention any system specs, so I'll take a wild guess and say you are recording to the system drive as well.

Yes. iDefrag, or Speedisk Tools, or TechTool, or.......there are a bunch of tools.

Um, probably Digidesign.com and under support? Just a wild guess.......

Many of which could have been answered via a quick google search or two.

i changed the max length from all avalible space to 10 mins in preferences and it made no difference!

1.83 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of Ram, 80GB HD with 50 GB remaining

could it be post roll?

i put on system using recording and the green lights barely flickered!

i have downloaded PT update and 1814 driver update, ill try those?

what else could it be?

thanks

You don't have the "2 Bar Countoff" selected in the transport window and the click track muted or inactive and configured for "record only", do you?

edit; chris110000100101001 mentioned the same thing...
