HDX in Harpertown PC?

I’ve read that the Harpertown Mac Pro should be avoided for HDX cards but are Harpertown PCs ok for HDX?

Yes the issue was with the power coming off the PCI-e bus....ie it was underpowered.

The document is somewhere on avid's site....but that was the reason.

It had nothing to do with the actual CPU's themselves.

HDX cards run fine in Harpertown Macs. The problem is that you can brick the card if you do a firmware update on it, something to do with the low level PCIe BIOS, detailed info was never released.

Actually that being said reminded me it didn’t say HDX cards.

It was defined as a no go with TDM cards (from what I remember)

Pete is correct here.

But there was another issues that I remember b/c I had a 3.1 harpertown and HD (TDM) card at the time.....it had to do with an underpowered bus on the PCIE connections.

Oh well it doesn't matter the OP asked about HDX and harpertown......
