upgrade from 10.3.2 failure

OK, I need help.
I'm a pragmatic guy and have been stuck on 10.3.2 forever since it works for me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But I bought XLN AD2 and it only works with 10.3.7 and higher, so I went to upgrade.
I uninstalled PT, and went to run the upgrade and nothing happened when clicking the "installer". I finally did get it to work, but when I launched PT it said there was an issue with the pathway or something and would not launch at all. Are there any issues with the upgrade that I should know about?
Of course, I have things going on in the studio and freaked out and managed to system restore it back.
I've RTFM but I must be missing something.

Can someone give me some pointers to get this upgrade going please?

You leave a lot to be desired in form of info. What version did you upgrade to!? What OS version? What interface etc..

Ahh sorry, it was too small and it blended with the line on an iphone :D

Try version 10.3.10 as it is the latest and last PT10 version. Many bug fixes and the best PT10 HD version we used before leaving PT10 all together.

If you dont have it in your account PM me and I will send you a link. I think you will be much better with that version.

And please don't depend on System Restore. Get the free version of Macrium Reflect or similar to make images of your system before any upgrade/install/uninstall/update. I do that and also image nightly.

I did try to install 10.3.10 last night. Forgive me, I am at work, and not looking at it right now. I can't recall the exact names of all that which was in the 10.3.10 folders that I downloaded.

When I finally got it all unpacked, I clicked, in explorer, "install" (or whatever it said) and nothing happened. If I recall correctly, I eventually got an error message to the effect of "can't find destination".

I finally opened up one of the other folders and got "something" to install and it took forever. Then I was excited to see that PT 10.3.10 had installed. But I went to launch it, and it gave me an error which I do not recall exactly... something about pathway.

So yes, I did try it and something wasn't right, whether it be me or the download.

I did uninstall 10.3.2 beforehand but only Pro Tools, not the drivers etc and settings. Should i have done that?

Also, I did not uninstall the drivers for my MOTU 896. I don't really know how, unless it just means to install whatever software (Cuemix etc).

Could that be the problem?

Re: upgrade from 10.3.2 failure

No you dont have to uninstall everything, just PT but i am thinking you either have some antivirus program or your internet connection drops out as it sounds like a bad download.

Try disable all virus stuff and firewalls and try downloading again. Should be like 2.6 GB abouts and then you can download the AIR stuff when PT10 launches.

Tye motu driver should be the latest so look at that aswell and let us know whats happening when you get home and have a chance to check and download.

As the same thing happened to your 10.3.7 download i thiink either your computer or try a different web browser as that has done it for other members.

Re: upgrade from 10.3.2 failure

rock solid internet connection and no a/v protection on my PT rig. No firewalls. I know I am coming across like a noob but I've been doing this since 2002.

When I downloaded 10.3.10 last night, I ended up with a folder and within it was three subfolders and what I assume is the installer. I click the installer and nothing happens. Strange.

Can you send me the link to the d/l page that you have? Maybe I clicked the wrong one. Maybe it didn't unzip right. I don't know.

I downloaded it from here:

edit: also Thanks for your help!! :):)

Try downloading from your avid account and see if that does it.

interesting. I hadn't even thought of that. It's been a long time since I've had to do anything with Avid, so I suppose that's not too bad really.

So, what I might find while logged in will be different than the link I was using?
