iLok3 and older software & licenses compatibility question...

Hello,

Is iLok3 fully backward compatible with older software and licenses such as Pro Tools HD8 and HD10, HDpacks V8, TL Space TDM V8, TDM plugin bundles, etc...?

Will it work with PTHD8 and PTHD10 on Windows 7 x64 PC?

Best regards,

Suad

Thanks for quick reply. Did you maybe notice any performance difference compared to iLok2? Any higher CPU usage or CPU and DPC spikes? I suppose newest version of iLok licence manager and drivers must be used as well...

Seriously doubt there are any ”performance” that would be noticed by anyone as an ilok is just a chip with ones and zeros on it so ... No way ever would anyone say they got a performance of CPU or any other component.

I run ilok2 and ilok3, and see no difference performance wise.

Well, it's fascinating how badly are some device dirvers and how bad DPC and CPU spikes can they make. Especially WiFi, network, power management and some security device drivers. But OK, thanks for your input. I will buy iLok 3 and try. BTW, I'm on windows PC.

However, I have one more question - I have some liceseces deposited in 2009 (never activated until now) and now I'm trying to activate on iLok gen 1. iLok manager won't let me activate most of my licences on gen 1 and requre gen 2/3.

How it's possible that licences from 2009. from time when iLok gen 2 was nonexistent now don't want to install to gen1 and require gen2?! (see pic)

I've seen youtube videos showing iLok license manager same lisences as mine but with both gen1 and gen2 activation available.

Regards

S

Hi,

Ilok 1 sounded better to me.

The zero's and one's were better quality back in the day before mass manufacture.

ilok1 - for warm, vintage rock and funky mixes

iLok2 - for transparent pop, dance and r'n'b mixes

iLok3 - for modern, loud EDM and trance mixes

That's the key! :p:p:p

Cheers,

Cheers :D

I would not buy an ilok 2 now that the ilok 3 which is less fragile is out. Only difference IMO.

Drue dat. I only have one ilok3 because it is so sturdy, but half a dozen ilok2 spares in a box. And all of those ancient ilok1's burning in hell
