Mix buss stereo wide plugin

There is a stereo widener plugin made by AIR that is part of the standard PT package.

As someone who works in mastering, I strongly advise you not to go down this path. You’ll do more harm than good.

If you feel your mix isn’t wide enough, go back to the mix down and make it wider. There’s dozens of ways you could try to achieve this. Trying to do it on the 2 buss is the wrong approach.

I would concur. And just do that on a couple tracks/stems. Trying to make everything sound 'wide' just ends up creating the illusion that nothing's wide any more :-)

Width = a difference between left and right channel. The concept is easy, but can be harder to achieve sometimes.

As above, but a little more advice; use a widener on a few things. Example: Send hat, ride and overheads to a stereo AUX track and insert a widener on the AUX(I like Waves Vitamin for this as you can choose to only widen higher frequencies). Or try a widener on a reverb(with the reverb on its own AUX track, insert a widener after the reverb plugin). Remember that wideners work by messing with phasing(which is why its not good to do on a whole mix):o
