Trilian

If anyone on here knows what trilian is... Its a bass program. In order for it to play a palm mute the velocity has to be on 112, so 113 -125 are open hits. I have the open hits on 125 because 126 and 127 are bends. I can't figure out how to make it to where I can put the palm mute on like 124 so the opens are on 125. I dont want to drop the opens hits closer to what 112 because its to light of a hit.

Not shure I understand exactly, sounds like what you want to do must be done in the plugin, but perhaps you can use the Midi Realtime Properties. If you're not familiar with it, it's a very useful little function that lets you set things like quantization and velocity (max/min) non-destructively on a track. Just select the track and find it in the PT menus.

Thanks for your response. It's nothing to do with quantize really. You are right it is done in within the plug-in I just can't figure it out. I've tried watching videos and what not. May be better to message Spectrasonics themselves. It has something to do with going into live mode or stack mode or something. Basically in the midi editor the palm muted articulations play on velocity numbers 80-112, but the open strings hits play 113-125. I want to make it to where I can have the open hits play on 127, and palm mutes to play on 126.

That would mean all of the open strings had exactly the same velocity - it would sound really unnatural, and robotic.

But if that's what you want (and if you can't limit / define the articulations in the plug-in prefs), it's easy enough to select all notes within certain velocities, and set them all to a specific velocity in Pro Tools.

Re: Trilian

Thanks for your reply.Trilian actually has a feature where you can set it to random or sequential where it will play different notes every time so it dosen't sound robotic. Humanize they call it. Technically other than that feature I would probably put open hits on 127-124 and palm mute on 123-121.
