EFX vs. SFX
Hey,
Can someone provide definition for EFX vs. SFX? Doing some sound design, just a little confused on how to properly label things for mix... Thanks! Nathan |
Re: EFX vs. SFX
pick one.. both work. I use SFX. I've seen both. Mostly SFX though.
...but keep it consistent please. don't want to confuse us mixing engineer types! :p cheers geo |

Re: EFX vs. SFX
asked by a director in a session I was working " um, geo, can you change the room tone?"
me " uh, sure.. what do you want?" dir " well, it doesn't have enough stuff in it" me" ah, you mean the ambience needs a bit more people, or bar sounds in the background of the scene?" dir " welll, no... not really, thats' ok, but the tone is wrong" me " errr. tone?" dir " uh, yean a bit more and darker is what I wanted" me" hmm... darker, more room tone..... hmmm.... AHHH!" I take the single violin note running in the soundtrack and replace it with a bit of "fuller, darker" score from another scene.... Dir " Yes.. that's much better room tone." me: " glad you like it... sigh" ..back to mixing... he knew what he wanted, he just didn't know the definitions. cheers geo |
