Completely baffled by HDX install
 

Hi there,

I'm trying to install an HD2 with two HDX cards. I have the Belkin cables and the original cabling from the HDX card boxes.

So...

If I put either card in slot 5 on its own, and connect the mini 6 pin to large 6 pin adaptor to it and then plug in the 4 pin, and connect my MTRX via digilink....it works.

The moment I put the second HDX card in slot 6, then....it will not detect the MTRX and says it isn't detecting the interface, won't allow me to open PT. If I open playback engine and select HDX it doesn't see anything, it allows me to select HDX but it's clearly not working.

This is with either card. If I put the second card in slot 4 and use the other power adaptor (8 pin) to connect the second card, won't load PT either.

How on earth are you meant to cable up an HD2? I'm not using any other PCIE slots for anything else, but slots 2 and 3, 3 & 4, 4 & 5...no matter what I try, two cards doesn't seem to work. But both cards individually digi-test just fine....

I'm wondering if it has to do with something to do with the power cables? I've tried using both, using the splitter, every combination I can think of. It's so weird.

PS this is an install in the latest Mac Pro.

UPDATE.

Solved. Turned out to be a dodgy HDX card after all, a card from another rig worked fine.
