Re: Buying plugins from ebay
All that cheap Wave Plug-In stuff on EBay is counterfeit/Pirated Software junk. Stolen Software. Buy The Software you use... http://www.imsta.org/ Software companies deserve to get paid for their hard work just as you deserve to get paid for your hard work. Most musicians would not equip their studios with stolen hardware, so why equip your studios with stolen software?

Re: Buying plugins from ebay
I bought ez drummer from ebay and didn't have any issue. Just make sure it is compatible with your system. They are usually cheaper on e-bay. Ask any questions you may have before you buy. Make sure they have a good record also

Now somebody trying to sell you a 7999.00 Waves bundle for 199.00 and claiming it doesn't need an iLok then its a scam. Generally speaking folks that run pirated software aren't shopping at eBay or anywhere else anyway. Like anything else in life if it seems to good to be true than it most certainly is. |
Re: Buying plugins from ebay
Exactly what SB said, plus the fact that most aren't dumb enuff (although there are som) to put pirated stuff on ebay like that...

Re: Buying plugins from ebay
Well said above:D Waves are expensive plugins, so maybe the solution is to look at other brands. There are few Waves plugins that can't be replaced with others. I like Waves L2, but Massey's L2007 works nice at $89. Waves reverbs are okay, but others will match or better them for less money(Breverb, TL Space, 112db Redline and IK Classik reverbs come to mind). What do you need? We'll find a cheaper alternative.
and yes, I have bought used plugins, both on ebay, and in the buy&sell section of the DUC(got a good deal on a Waves bundle). Check that feedback as the only stiffing I got was from an ebayer with low feedback(sent so-called legit plugins on a CD-R with no numbers). Always ask if it is original install disks, or if its an iLok transfer(you can download all Waves plugins from their site, but you need an iLok to make them work). Many other plugins use an authorization code(like IK and Massey). |
Re: Buying plugins from ebay
I have bought a lot of different plugs of eBay over the years. Its a great place to buy bread and butter plugs like the Digi stuff or to purchase duplicate plugs for a laptop or mobile rig.
The other thing-and this applies to anything, is to know what your buying and and how its authorized or what normal retail is. Bottom line is I buy stuff of eBay all the time. But I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking at. The other thing it to check the Buy and Sell section here on the DUC. There are some great deals and sellers here. |
Re: Buying plugins from ebay
i have stuck to purchases from dealers with a long history on ebay that require ilok - this ensures that a great deal is ligit
ebay is great, but diligence on your part is essential go forth and purchase |
Re: Buying plugins from ebay
Basically if a deal looks too good to be true, it is.
