Eleven Rack & Eleven MKII

Hi,
this week I bought eleven rack and just see who have taken "Eleven MKII".
I have the Eleven plugin, the upgrade would be $ 50 plugin, and the Eleven Rack cost me $ 500.
Forums said that the plugin now has what version rack.
So you have advantages of having spent $ 500? consider yourself to have some advantage in rack, or return it and advise me to buy the plugin version?
My current system is "Pro Tools 12.3 digi003".

Thank you!

Whether keeping the Eleven Rack is worth it really depends on your needs.

As far as amps, Eleven MKII now has all of the amps that are in the Eleven Rack with the expansion pack.

As for effects, all of the Eleven effects are available as a plugin as well, but they are not part of Eleven MKII. Therefore, you can not create presets with effects and save them like you can with the Eleven rack. For instance, you would have to save your favorite reverb setting separately, put Eleven MKII on a track, call up your preset, add the reverb plug, call up the reverb preset....

There is also latency. Depending on your system, you may have lower latency using the Rack.

Then there is always practice and live use. The Eleven rack is great for practicing since you don't have to fire up your computer. And since there is no stand alone app for Eleven MKII, you will always need to fire up Pro Tools just to use it.

So, again, it really depends on how you are going to use the rack and the plug-in. I personally like having both. I like having the effects stored with my presets, so I still use the Rack for some tracking, but I also use MKII for simple guitar parts where I don't have much on the track other than the amp and some verb.

I really wished Avid would have put everything in one GUI similar to the eleven editor. Having a bunch of stompbox effect plugins is a bit of a mess, and would make sense to pair it with the Eleven plugin.

Agreed

It's common knowledge that dedicated hardware, whether digital or analog is better than computers. Interfacing in the first instance is superior. Sound quality is 'generally' better. And regarding the Eleven Rack specifically, it's a hardware accelerator (standalone). It's a live tool and creative tool for those purposes. Keep it, unplug it from your computer and play. Simply record the audio and be done. IMNSHO.

I'll finally get to "Eleven Rack" by the advantages with respect to the plugin version. Do you know if Avid will continue to support the Eleven Rack, including new "expansion pack 2"?
Thank you.

It is highly unlikely anything new is going to happen with the 11R. By all appearances it's a dead duck to Avid.

Having said that, it's a great unit as it is; I have two of them, One for studio and other for live use.
