Eleven Rack Main Outputs

Hi all.
I'm having problem with my live setup.

I want to use a solid state poweramp with a 4x12 cab as my monitoring on stage, fed by the "Output to AMP 2 jack without any cab simulation.
And I want to use the main outputs direct into PA with the full rig sound.

The problem.
When I enter preferences and set the "Output 2 (Right)" to "Rig Out No Cab" the main outputs removes the cab simulation on Main outputs.

Is this by design or am I doing something wrong?

Wrong!

The "Output to Amp" 1 and 2 are totally independent from the main outs (XLR).
If you set one "out to amp" to a setting that doesn't contain the cab simulation (e.g. "amp output" or "rig output no cab") it does NOT influence the signal on the main outs. What does happen, however is that when you set Output to amp 1 to deliver "Rig out no cab" then automatically also Output to amp 2 is set to that setting, because the 11R is "assuming" you want to record/amplify in stereo. So there is a connection/dependency between the two "Output to amp" jacks, but there is NO connection to the main out jacks (XLR).

Sorry therealmf, but that is incorrect. It's been confirmed by the devs here on the board that the 11R does not have sufficient processing power to run rig out + no cab through the output to amp 1 and 2 AND rig out (with cab) through the XLR. That would entail running the post-cab effects twice, once on the no cab setting, and once on the with cab setting. The 11R automatically forces the XLR to rig out no cab if this option is selected. At all other times, the XLR is independent of output to amp 1 and 2.

Hi Coldfart,

One option worth considering is to set the Output To Amp user option to "Power Amp" (I'm not sure if that's the exact text). That will make your Output To Amp have no cab sound, but your main outs will have the cab. The downside is that only the Main Outs will have post amp effects, but that's not necessarily different than using a real tube amp without an FX loop.

I would also imagine that putting the delay and reverb post amp and having those FX just come from the PA could sound really cool. You'd hear the direct sound from your amp and delay and reverb sound from the PA.

Another option would be to simply mic the cabinet instead of going XLR out of the 11R. This way you hear everything exactly how it's coming out of the PA.

One of the benefits of using the 11R is to avoid having to lug a cabinet and amp but since you are doing that anyway, why stop there. :p

Have you considered a powered monitor setup instead of a power amp and cab? This would give you your exact sound from the 11R right in yo face!

Good luck getting it to work. It looks like you have a few options that will work.

Re: Eleven Rack Main Outputs

Thanks for info.
I have now put away my Marshall cabinets and found a powered monitor setup that has a killer sound (in my ears :D)

Havent tried it on the PA yet, but the last time I tried direct into PA it wasn't as good as my newly powered monitor setup thats for sure.

Is there any tips to get the same sound out of the PA speakers?
Do I have to EQ the PA or do something other magic?

-=Ketil=-

What powered monitor setup did you go with?

We had a band rehearsal at Friday evening, and the 11R performed excellent on my monitor setup and direct into PA.

I'm very happy right now, and exited to try this thing LIVE .
