Pro Tools HD with Intel i7 cpu

Hello,
I'm thinking of buying pro tools hd and my pc consists of a motherboard with CPU Socket 1366 and the Chipset Intel X58 Express and an Intel i7 cpu. Does anyone know if pro tools will run without problems in my system?
Thanks for you help.
ps I'm using windows xp

LE runs great on the i7/X58 setup so I would expect good results for you.

It needs to be said that you need a motherboard that will physically accept the HD cards without interference regardless of whether they are PCIe or PCI.

If PCIe you need be able to set the slot speed to PCIe X1 or X4 as apparently the cards will not work with PCIe bus speeds of X8 or X16-or so I have heard.

I've got the i7 cpu and for some reason I had problems installing the 8.0cs3 update. I have a Sweetwater Rack XT and their support team figured out that the cs3 update would not work with the i7 for some reason, so I stayed with cs2 which worked fine. For 8.0.1 I had a couple crashes while trying to install, but I was eventually I was able to get HD working. Other than that, no problems.

Hey riffmachine, I was reading that you got your Pro tools HD to work with the i7 processor. I am about to build a PC for Pro tools HD and would like to know the specs of your computer system and what version of operating system, what kind of mother board and all that your using to get it to work. Thanks, hope you can get back at me asap

About 4 months ago I assembled my new system to accomodate 8.0 and my HD1 stystem. Emphasis was placed on being QUIET! I made only one mistake the PS is a bit too loud. Anyway, it is basically quiet and is speedy.

Noctua NH-U12PSE cooler
ASUS P6T MB
6 GB OCZ DDR3-1600
WD320 GB 7200RPM 16 MB SATA2

Antec WE 750 W
Antec P182 case
BFG NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 512 MB

Hey Mike, Were you able to run pro tools HD1 with a 64 bit version of Vista Business or are you running a 32 bit OS. Also when you say W7 update what did you mean by that? thanks for the system info by the way, I'm considering buying the same setup you have, but I was also wondering if there was another mother board that might support more then 1x PCIe slots, because i see that theres only one slot only with the Asus PT6. I want to have the option of upgrade to a HD2 later on, so what other motherboards would you recommend? Thanks a lot for the information. One more questions, how well is your PC running with the HD1 setup. THANKSS
