T-racks Vs. Waves
I have the waves gold bundle, and the Antares Filter.
Is there any reason I need to get T-racks? DM |

Just kidding - but this topic has been discussed before, so try a search and you'll find other users reviews on both T-Racks and Waves. There's also a demo available, so you might want to try that and form your own opinions. |
Re: T-racks Vs. Waves
T-Racks is useful if you're going for a closed-in, boxy feel. Waves has its own flavor too, but it's more transparent to me than the T-Racks processors which all kind of sound dark and muddy if you're not careful.
I don't know what T-Racks is going for these days, but if I were you, I'd suggest putting the cash into your front end rather than plugins. How's your mic selection? Have any nice-ish outboard reverbs? Find the weakest link in your chain and strengthen it...that is the only way you'll actually "improve" anything with gear. The rest is up to you. |
Re: T-racks Vs. Waves
I agree with Chris Coleman - T-Racks is a bit muddy sounding...very coloured. The odd thing is that the old stand alone version sounded nothing like the plugs, much more open...go figure.
Save your $$ and put it towards a nice mic or pre or a better ADC. Whatever would help you the most with the work you do the most. |
Re: T-racks Vs. Waves
don't go for t-racks unless you get it for free and wat to try it out. instead, surf to pspaudioware.com and try theirs i bet you'll be drooling over the vintagewarmer and master-q..

Re: T-racks Vs. Waves
I´d also say if your are looking for vintage sound rather get
McDSP, http://www.nomadfactory.com or psp, their sound is much better and destinctive. Vintage Warmer normally goes for $129 New on ebay. For me, when I tested McDSP for the first time, after a couple of minutes I thought: this one is for me!!! I have heard only VERY few EQ and Filters that musical! best |
