Windows 7?

Specs say Win 8 / Win 10.
Does this mean Win 7 is not supported?
I guess most win-user are still on 7...

Will this run on Win7 without issues?

I'd like to order a unit, but I will not switch my OS to Win8 or 10.

Any comments by someone who knows?

It's a pity, that avid people always respond to this "thank you guys, you did a great job"-posts, but ignore such simple questions like this.
Although it's about selling a unit or not...

Or, probably I should take this as a "no, it does not work"-comment...?

Elsewhere it was posted that Avid only tests the last two supported operating systems. Now that they are supporting windows 10, they are probably no longer testing windows7. That doesn't mean it doesn't work but there will be a growing risk of problems.

Thanks Bob for chiming in. And very interesting.

If this is for real, it seems quite awkward to me, that Avid is testing on Win8, which (I would guess) not a single professional studio is working on, and ignore Win7 which is installed in (also a guess) probably 90% of the windows based studios out there, just because Win7 is on "position three" of the last windows operating systems? Well...

Microsoft claims win 10 will be their final OS with twice-yearly updates moving forward. I and many others have had zero problems with it and lots fewer than we had with win 7. If I were Avid, I'd be pouring most of my resources into win 10. They held off for ten months before supporting it and the support includes the home version with its automatic updates. That's a pretty resounding show of confidence!

+1 to win10 development. But why excluding win7-testing in favor of a win8-support?

I tested Win10 on a second machine right after release last summer, and at the beginning I had many issues. Ilok did not not work, waves plugins did not work, elicencer (Steinberg) had problems, quicktime did not work. So basically for office tasks it was OK, but nothing for my audio post business. And so (even though those problems might have been solved in between) it's hard to trust and to risk a os-change for me atm, since I have zero issues with win7. And I don't know a single windows based studio which turned to win10 in my area.
But it is very good to hear that it is working well for you. May I ask, you have no problems with ilok/waves/quicktime?

I asked about this, and Windows 7 hasn't been fully tested, and isn't officially supported, but there were no specific problems found during testing. That said, if you do decide to use this with an unsupported OS, it is buyer beware, no guarantees.

Re: Windows 7?

The iLock issue was in the public beta of win 10 and not any released version. According to Microsoft it was caused by their debugging code. I also found win 8.1 more reliable than win7.

I've had zero problems with iLock or waves since some I had with win7.
