VCA Spill with Artist Series Questions

I have a couple of questions regarding the VCA Spill feature now available for the Artist Series.

1)Do you have to have the PT App to make the VCA Spill feature work on the Artist Series components?

2) Is the spill feature limited to the Mix units?

3) If you have more than 8 VCA Masters, will the balance spill into the next unit? For example: The preference settings says to assign faders 9 - 16 for VCA faders. Would the 9th VCA fader then spill to fader 17 in a 2nd Mix or MC Control?

4) Finally, if the PT App is required to work on A.S. units, is it also required for the S3, or is that function built into the S3's architecture?
