Pro Tools 8 LE mac update link broken

Hi everybody,

my Name is Pit, I live in Germany, I 'm new to this forum and I 'm new to Pro Tools as well.

Just recently I purchased a Mbox 2 with Pro Tools 8 LE included.
After installation on my macbook pro (os x 10.6.8) I thought it 'd be wise to follow the recomendations I read here and elsewhere and update to Pro Tools to 8.0.5.
But in spite of all effort, I was not able to download the update file.

I can see it on the avid-site, but when I try to download the file I always get redirected to the site I just came from or to the avid-homepage.
I 've been trying to find a solution for a couple of days now already, but without success.
Maybe the link is broken, I just don 't know.
All I know is that I can 't persuade the avid site to allow me to download the update-file.

Therefore I eventually registered to this forum, after I 've read all I could find on this site concerning my problem.
So, if there 's anybody out there who could help me solving my problem, I 'd really appreciate.

Greetings from Germany,
Pit

Sure enough. I just checked and you’re right. All download links I found are redirecting instead of downloading. I’ll alert DigiTechSupt.

Installer for PTLE 8.0.5 from PTLE 8.X.X

I click the link and it redirects here.

Thanks for escalating this.

Re: Pro Tools 8 LE mac update link broken

Thanks for answering in almost less than no time!
I couldn 't answer any earlier, because there 's a little time shift of about a couple of hours between Europe and the U.S.

So here 's some further information regarding the problems trying to download Pro Tools LE 8.0.5 Mac Update:

When you go to this avid-site, the avid knowledge base
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...651?popup=true
you 'll be directed to the site that contains information and a download-link for Pro Tools 8.0.5 LE Mac
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...663?popup=true
You can download the info, a pdf-file, but you cannot download the Pro Tools Update.
If you try to download the Update file, you 'll be redirected to site where you started from (first link above).

There 's a site in this forum, that contains information and download-links for Pro Tools 8.0.5, 8.1.1 and 9.0.2
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=296593
Again, you can download the infos, but when you click on the download link for the Pro Tools Update, an error occurs, telling you this site is not available.

And at last there 's an avid-site, that lists up all available downloads back to Pro Tools 7.
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nload/en355241
Funny thing here: I was able to download a couple of Updates for windows, but none for Mac - except for one file for a PPC-Mac.

The former mentioned sites where updated the last time back in 2011-2013, including the forum-site.
But the last site I pointed to, with all these updates back to Pro Tools 7, has been updated in 2018 - but still not working properly, when it comes to download Updates.

Allright, so far I travelled many a lightyear in the avid-universe, trying to discover new Pro Tools 8.0.5 LE Updates - but with no avail at all.
But hey, I 'm still young, and someday I might gonna find a source that 'll allow me to download a Pro Tools Update even for a Mac :-)

Oh, by the way, not shure about the RME-stuff, cause I never bothered with it (not yet, but if I can 't find a 8.0.5 Update, who knows . . . )
But there site still preserves downlaods and Updates even for OS 8.6 - and their links do work.
Mac OS 8.6? Was anounced way back in the last century - now that 's impressive.

So come on avid, give it a try - and make all these Updates for Mac-users available again.
Please.

With best regards from Germany,
Pit

Did you try the link I posted in my previous post here? This link: http://secure.digidesign.com/service...&localeCode=en
This will get you to the download you need.

I posted that aswell but it kicks you back to Avid.com

No download starts, just another redirect.

When I click on the link I get a white page that has hyperlinks to the download but like you say when you click on the link to download it just redirects. And this page http://secure.digidesign.com/service.../downloads.cfm has a bunch of download link but the PT8 links are for M-Powered versions.

Back again, I tried this site with a bunch of Pro Tools downloads http://secure.digidesign.com/service.../downloads.cfm
Same thing happens there, when I click on one of the download links, I get redirected to the Avid Homepage.
