Difference between 5.1 and 5.1 discrete
Hi guys,
Could anybody clarify this for me please? What is the difference between 5.1 and 5.1 discrete? Thanks a lot, zzstation |

No difference. they are the same.

Re: Difference between 5.1 and 5.1 discrete
You're probably referring to 2 channel dolby surround (matrixed LCRS) versus 5.1 discrete.

Re: Difference between 5.1 and 5.1 discrete
Well there are 5.1 streams as in what is sitting on most of your DVD's. That is an integrated and compressed 5.1 as opposed to 6 separate feeds.

If you were to listen to the AC3 encoded file, you wouldn't like what you heard. |

A matrixed file never unfolds to 5.1 Delivering discrete 5.1 means delivering 6 separate audio files. Not an AC3, not a DTS, not a Dolby E file. |

Just a 5.1, LTRT ect. If they want anything else, Dolby E, AC3 (unless its an MO), that's out of my hands. I've never had to deliver those. Quote:
