Motherboards

Hi,
I suppose digidesign is getting sick of these posts, and sick of all the questions.
But-

I'm (like you reading this) a PC Digi001 user, and I'm trying to piece together my system.

We've got all the compatibility documents etc on this site, but lots of questions are still unanswered.... it's just awkward (spelling) .. trying to piece together a system, knowing that we won't spend all our money on a system that won't support the digi001. anyhow.

In particular, I'm after more info on motherboards supporting the 600Mhz chips,
(considering I know nothing about motherboards) - what needs to be supported and what is NOT recommend (ie what NOT to get).. someone was telling me not to get VIA stuff.. anyhow.. talking to computer sales people.. think they know everything about protools.. they'd sell me just about anything I think... I'd just like some advice on how to go about building, not the greatest, but a safe + economic system to run this thing on.

Abit makes great board. I would recommened them right along with Asus. Check out the BE6-II. It's an Intel 440 chipset, has an award BIOS, and supports UDMA/66. Great board. If I put together yet another system (I have 3 so far), it's my next board.
