CD Architect alternatives?

I rarely burn CDs, but occasionally still get asked for them. On Win 10, Sony CD Architect (often) hangs during a burn. (It was solid on Win 7.) No support or upgrade plans from Magix. I've scoured the internet for a solution, Magix forums, Win 7 compatibility mode, re-install, processor affinity, processor priority, pre-render to temp file, different burners...

I need a solid RedBook app for Win 10. Wavelab Elements? Wavelab Pro? What's the difference? Something else? Thnx!!!

Wavelab Elements is pretty decent. I still use CD Architect 5.2 on Windows 10 and rarely have any issue. Could it be your optical drive that's to blame? For "quick and dirty" burning(like to check in the car), Windows can do that:o

I tried my internal optical as well as an external one. Same issue. I tried a freebie app called ExpressBurn, and it works using these same 2 burners. I'm stumped on CD Architect. Occasionally I still get asked to prepare Masters for duplication, so I need a decent Redbook app i.e. better than Windows or iTunes or ExpressBurn etc.

Not sure, but maybe take a look at Studio One. I remember reading that it can do DDP and redbook CD's. Not sure if the basic versions do it, but its worth a look:o

Re: CD Architect alternatives?

I launched the same CD Architect 5.2 burn project that froze on me recently (by the way other CD Arch projects have been intermittently freezing as well). One burn attempt worked, but all other burn attempts (of this same project) froze (in random places) during the burn. Sometimes after several seconds, it would un-freeze & finish. Other times it just hung forever & I had to force-quit the app. Same issue using my internal optical drive & my external optical drive. CD Arch worked great on Win 7, but is buggy for me on Win 10.

Wavelab Elements 10. Somewhat convoluted install process, and a bit tricky to navigate on first use. I was able to re-build my burn project, but had to refer to the manual a couple of times. When I finally went to burn it, it did NOT recognize my int drive. Google found that others are having the same problem. It did, however, recognize my ext drive just fine. Uninstall.

HOFA CD-Burn.DDP.Master. Install was a snap, user interface is a breeze, & I re-built my burn project in no time. Produced a perfect burn on both optical drives. Feels solid & has lots of pro mastering features, too!!!:D
