The writing was on the wall already. Now just everyone make sure you reinstate this year if you don't want to go subscription later

Customers who will not renew the annual plan will be deported to Alcatraz and tortured for the rest of their life.

It's kind of like they want you to move away from PT..

So I'm on an EDU not subscription license for the last year..

Can I upgrade again now for another year for e99 and have a perpetual license after it?

Next move will be a doubling of the subscription price next July with a possibility to buy yearly subscription plan(s) at a reduced price, announced mid-June so people will give loads of cash to AVoID right on time before fiscal quarter end.

What they have at heart is their stock holders not their user base....

Isn't it just! Coincidentally, you can crossgrade to Nuendo 10 for about the same price as a HD reinstatement plan costs. Avid will also be nice enough to let you keep your 'lapsed' Pro Tools license to convert any incoming or outgoing sessions... just so you don't have to give them a brass razoo again in your life.

Exactly , This a is a game changer.
I dont make aliving using Protools Hd. They have priced me out of the game.
I can nolonger reinstate. If i go subscription based then I lose my original perpetual license.

This is by far the greediest company I have seen.
I mean I bought Chassis Hdx cards software , Damn digilink License.
Wtf. Do not update no more. I am staying at 2018.12.
I also cancelled my renewal for everything bundle because of this......
No more money for something they dont ever make right.

They will eventually loose big on screwing over their base.
It wasnt the big studios that made them. It was us!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry but I just don't see that as true. I don't know of any other software company that doesn't have updates for their legacy software.

In theory someone could have bought Pro Tools Ultimate for $2499 in October 2018 and if they let their license lapse past 31st October 2019 they have no upgrade options at all? Other than to buy the software again? Seems extremely harsh to me...
