Avid Artist page is 404
 

Trying to find info about which automation mode buttons are on the artist mix. Unfortunately the AVID artist page is 404.

What automation mode button are on the artist mix? Does it have "preview"?

Weird. First link 404 over here. Second one works. Thanks for posting.
Unfortunately the pictures of the Mix are too small to see what the buttons actually do in detail.
The feature list only mentions "Record/Automation Keys" but no details. Same thing for the specs list.

Found the manual but that only mentions an automation key but not which ones can be accessed.

I´m trying to find out if there are buttons for automation features like, preview, capture, punch preview etc.?

Does anyone know?

Hey Frank,

You can only get to the automation features through the soft keys on either a Control or a Transport. You are able to cycle through the automation modes on the faders (touch, latch, etc.) with the Mix but it's clumsy as your fingers will have a hard time pressing the Auto button without touching the fader. Also the readout on the scribble script is a little cryptic in telling you what mode you are in.

Frank, I just got an Artist Control a week or so ago and the touchscreen options for evrything are fantastic, and customizable. I know it's only 4 faders but I'm doing a lot with those. I'm not sure how it interfaces with the Artist Mix but I would hope it would expand to the functions as a sort of master control for both units. I 'm sure there are many folks running both units here...hopfully they will weigh in on this. If you have the space for both it seems a great package.

That sounds great. What about the build-quality. I read and heard lots of horror stories about the cheap quality, noisy faders etc. which made me stay on a C8. But this referred to the old silver ones. How are the newer black AVID-branded ones in terms of quality and feel?

Worth the price?

The Artist series is built better then the C8. I think the build quality is betten than the c24. I'm happy with a few issues tho. I'm mostly a control surface mixer.
