Waves 7 isn't working after installing iTunes 10 - FIXED!
EDIT - This is not an iTunes issue, it's related to a disk corruption....now the problem is solved!
I did...now Waves 7 isn't working! They could be totally unrelated of course..but the only thing that's changed on my system is the update to iTunes 10. This morning, my previously rock solid LE rig won't load a session. Narrow it down to the Waves plugins in it (I have platinum and studio classics). Can open any session without waves plugs, or with all plugins deactivated. As soon as I try to open a waves plugin - spinny beach ball, and PT freezes. Got a few things to try (latest version of Waves installers, latest PT updates) but just a word of warning. Waves tech support are looking into it for me. Anyone else come up against this? if you have OSX 10.5.8/Waves 7/PT LE8/iTunes 10 on Mac Pro, I'd be interested to hear your exact versions for waves and LE, so I can see if I can rescue without having to system image my disk! |
Re: Don't install iTunes 10 yet!
Oh, waves again?
I had so many problem with them I stopped buying and using them. |

I'm running an iMac w/ 10.5.8, PT LE 8.0.4 and do not have the issues you are having. 1. Try trashing prefs... 2. Try creating a new Admin profile and logging in... |
Re: Don't install iTunes 10 yet!
hey, thanks for the replies.
Waves have actually been pretty good on the tech support so far. I've done the usual prefs trash - they've given me detailed instructions for removing Waves totally and then re-installing. I've got the latest build of the installer, plus the 8.0.4 update so hopefully that might have some effect. |
Re: Don't install iTunes 10 yet!
PTLE 8.0.4 & WAVES 7 working just fine here.

Re: Don't install iTunes 10 yet!
not just a PT thing apparently - Logic hangs when validating the first waves plugin...
EDIT - possibly not - it's just taking at least 2min to validate each waves plugin. |
Re: Don't install iTunes 10 yet!
it doesn't here.

Re: Don't install iTunes 10 yet!
I am using Waves (GOLD version only) ver 7.1.0.3 build 6872 (if I open a RenComp or L1, I believe the build numbers will be different for the various plugs). Is this the same or similar version that you have?
Does it happen whether iTunes 10 is open or not? (works both ways here). I guess the only other thing that I just noticed is that you are using 10.5.8. I am actually using 10.6.4. Regards, Matt |

Also just tried creating a new admin user. No joy there either - just spins whilst trying to load the waveshell. Doesn't matter what iTunes 10 is doing - I'm not even 100% that's the reason it's not working, but that was the only change between a working system and a non-working one, so it's the prime suspect. I mean, I know I COULD fix it by doing a re-install from scratch (at which point I'd probably go to Snow Leopard as well) - I actually maintain PT rigs for the studios I work at, so I didn't have a problem nailing what the actual problem was - it's just a bit of a weird one! fortunately this is my 2nd machine really, my main rig is at my production studio (and is fine). I can still do edits on it, so I'm going to try to find a solution that doesn't involve wiping the whole thing, even it it takes a week or so. Thanks for all the help so far! |
