SC48 and SSD

Hello, I know that the hard drive in SC48 is safe and no problem, but anyone has tried to install an SSD?

We've replaced one hard drive in our SC48, at about 6 months of age.

IIRC, Sheldon mentioned elsewhere that solid state drives are not yet supported by AVID in the SC48, although they are in other Venue products. Do I recall that correctly, Sheldon?

Thanks for your reply Tim, I hope that will be possible, in our work we need the maximum reliability.

Hi guys,

There isn't an official recommendation for SSD, but customers who have chosen to replace their HDs with SSDs report that they work well. So use at your own risk.

Main points to consider are capacity (16 GB or higher) and read/write access time (usually not a problem due to SSDs faster speeds).

Thanks for your reply Sheldon, can anyone suggest the best model to replace?

Re: SC48 and SSD

I suggest not buying OCZ drives - I had a drive controller failure and it's quite common. One day you power on your system and find that SSD is simply dead - brilliant for live sound.

Google for drives with reliable controllers - this should be a good starting point.

I am deciding which SSD to get, Intel SSD 120Gb 520 is one option, is compatible with SC48?
Help please

Re: SC48 and SSD

Any SATA interface drive should be compatible. The issue is reliability. Focus your research on that.

I am looking to replace an SC48 Drive. How well did the Crucial drive work out for you?
