Which softwaresampler for MAC PT12?
Hello all.
I'm looking for a sampling app that runs as a plugin in PT12. It has to enable me to record or import my own samples/wavefiles, not restricting me to preloaded sounds. Furthermore I'd like some filters, time stretching and looping, all of the features of the old familiar hardware sampler. I can spend about $400,=. My location is in Europe and I hope to dl the file from a European site if that makes any sense. Just to avoid currency conversion, likely the amount will be some more in euros. Anyone suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Get one of the NI bundles with Kontakt 5. If you shop around you might get Komplete 11 close to your budget.

Kontakt has very limited tweek and fun and is a bread and butter kinda VI. No cool features like you ask whatso ever.
Check out Vengeance Sound Phalanx which is amazing for the prive and you get a crapload of awesome sounds for modern music so check it out here : http://www.vengeance-sound.com/plugi...uite%20Phalanx We have everything they sell and you cant go wrong with Phalanx and or Avenger which is more of a synth but imports sound aswell :-) |

Wow that's lot of feedback, thank you all :D
I had my eye on Kontakt but I am not familiar on interpreting the info. But the fact that most of you recommend it speaks books to me. I don't believe it's limited filterwise and such when I look at the discussion, so I rely on you folks. But my intuition also sais yes to NI because it's a common brand. Maybe Uvi-Falcon but just not sure yet for no reason at all. But maybe... The easiest step is to just buy NI Kontakt and I guess I'll be set. (Yes I kow I am a lazy motherf***** :-) ) Thank you all fellows, I'll check a dealer for a purchase. Cu you later :-) |

I'd certainly look at NI Komplete rather than just Kontakt. I know it's more expensive but you get LOT more value for money. It includes a full version of Kontakt of course. |

Have Kontakt (actually had it since it first came out) and the third party support is fantastic as well as the tweakibility. Most people don't click the little wrench icon to see what's behind the curtain. It's also a scripter's delight and for help with that seek out a fellow who posts under the name Evil Dragon - he's not only on the NI forums but also posts in other places. Scripting guru.
Falcon is flexible beyond belief and I'll give it that (it's time stretch/compression and pitch change are second to none - I think they use the Ircam routines). Sadly third party support for libraries isn't anywheres near as good as Kontakt. Falcon seems to be more of a synth than sampler to me. Like Marsdy said it's a shame they don't have a demo. |
