What do I need to make 64 inputs?
I have a long term live recording gig coming up. The board will be a Digico SD9. We plan to take the direct outs into an SSL madi card which will feed the computer. This mac pro also has 2 HD cards installed, but in this scenerio unused. It doesnt seem to be working with more than 32 inputs with protools 10. Will upgrading to protools 10 HD solve this even tho the HD cards are currently unused? What might I need to buy to get all 64 inputs from the madi system working in protools?
The avid spec sheet for protools is very unclear. Thanks |
Re: What do I need to make 64 inputs?
You need a Madi Interface.
And Digico is just supporting 56 channels. |
Re: What do I need to make 64 inputs?
Pro Tools 10 non HD can do 96 tracks at 48K... sounds more of a hardware issue than HD versus non
Here is the link to the comparison... http://www.avid.com/US/products/Pro-...atures#Compare |

Do you need to record in Pro Tools? Consider something else to record and then bring the tracks over if you don't absolutely need Pro Tools on the tracking side. |

Or you'd use something like Nuendo/Nuendo Live or any other DAW to record in. They will all support your SSL madi interface.

Re: What do I need to make 64 inputs?
I have the ssl madi interface, was just hoping I could use it and protools HD with the HD cards I have (hd cards doing nothing) to track in protools hd. This will be an ongoing project for a specific band who owns the board and wants to track every show so renting isnt an option. Ill have to decide if I should just track in something else or pony up for the avid madi interface.
Thanks |
