Avid at Winter NAMM 2013
 

Hey everyone - great news! We are really excited to post that we are returning to Anaheim, California for Winter NAMM 2013! Many of the Avid Pro Audio folks will be on-site from January 24–27 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Hall A, Booth #6400. So, if you’re attending the show, we would really love to have you stop on by.

Some added scoop to help you plan your visit to the show…… check out the resources on our new Avid at Winter NAMM 2013 web site where you can see the lineup of special guest artists, including Grammy®-winning mixer Dave Pensado and Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Greg Wells (we plan to post a schedule soon). You should visit the site to see what audio products are on display so that you can get a one-on-one demo, test drive them yourself and even pump our experts for advice.

If you can’t make the show, no worries as you can receive up-to-the-minute email alerts by subscribing to this thread. I’ll be adding replies with the latest news, artist interviews, photos, and more throughout the show.

We’ll also be sending out updates by email each day of the show. To subscribe, click the “Daily Updates” button on the new Avid at Winter NAMM 2013 web site.

Free Sibelius Training at Winter NAMM 2013
 

Hi folks, quick update on our activities at the NAMM show. For those of you who are in music education, we've got free Sibelius training on-tap during the show for music educators.

The Avid training team recently launched a new Sibelius Training and Certification Program. They're hosting a sneak peek of the program at the Hilton Anaheim from January 25th - January 27th during NAMM's Music Educator Days.

Avid alongside renowned Abbey Road Studios today announced the launch of a song competition to celebrate 25 years of bringing award-winning products to the music industry.

The world-famous recording studio is looking for three great songs or tracks, as chosen by top industry hitmakers, to get mixed and mastered at Abbey Road.

You can submit your best song or track, and you could join the ranks of The Beatles, U2, Adele, Lady Gaga, and other music legends whose hits have crossed the mixing boards at Abbey Road.

Three winners ALSO each get a Pro Tools|HD Native system with Pro Tools HD 10 software and an HD OMNI interface (worth $5,999).

Breathe new life into mixes with the Pro Compressor AAX plug-in

Avid today launched of the Pro Series line of AAX Native and AAX DSP plug-ins, featuring three new advanced processors that enable users to sound their best.

The first up is the Pro Compressor. It's a high-quality compressor based on the Avid System 5 console and Channel Strip plug-in (which is bundled with Pro Tools 10 software).

The new Pro Compressor plug-in is available now for $99 (USD) in the online Avid Store and at Avid resellers worldwide.

Go Inside Abbey Road Studios
 

A bit of Abbey Road news from NAMM --

The pro audio team late last year spent a week at Abbey Road Studios and brought a video crew along with them. The result, a brand new documentary series that takes you inside the legendary studio and follows the emerging UK band Strangefruit as they attempt to make their own mark.

In the series, Grammy-nominated producer Greg Wells is on tap to help the band record and mix. If you sign up to watch the series on Avid.com, you'll get tips for recording, including mic selection, lead vocal production, and more. You'll also see what it’s like to record in the same studio, using the same mics, as the Beatles--among other cool insider bits.

Pensado's Place taped an episode in our booth with special guest, multi-Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Greg Wells (Adele, Katy Perry, OneRepublic), who we also interviewed.

Audio designer Dave Hill and folks from Zynaptiq, FXpansion, and McDSP dropped by to chat.

Composer/arranger/musician Jay Terrien (Moby, Rancid, Rihanna) talked with us about his latest project with Alien Ant Farm.

Producer/engineer Joseph “Klypso” Mourad (Dr. Dre, Ne-Yo, 50 Cent) stopped by to talk music and more.

Today, Michael Fitzpatrick (lead singer of Fitz and The Tantrums) will be dropping by, along with more of our audio development partners. Then it’s Imagine party time!

NAMM 2013: De-Reverberation with AAX Native Plug-in UNVEIL by Zynaptiq
 

The Zynaptiq team joined us on the interview pod to tell us about their new port to AAX Native--Unveil 1.5.

UNVEIL is a real-time, de-mixing based plug-in that allows attenuating or boosting reverb components within a mixed signal of any channel count, including mono sources, as well as modifying reverb characteristics.
