B (separate) key stopped working

I opened a session this morning that I was working on yesterday, tried to separate a region using the B keyboard shortcut and it didn't work. I've now spent about 1/2 an hour mucking around trying to fix it. What have I done?

My guess is you (accidentally?) switched the keyboard focus to either the Region List or the Groups List.

In the Edit window at the top of the vertical scroll bar (on the right side), there is a small a..z button (it should be yellow). You can also use the shortcut Cmd-Opt-[1] (mac).
