Another source.... might have different/additional info? EDIT: the Gruber article is the one to read. Should be perfect timing for me, my system is cruising along for now. |
Re: The Mac Pro lives
I have three of the aluminum Mac Pros. Never saw much promise in the black spittoon.

Re: The Mac Pro lives
I just upgraded my 4,1 cheesegrater aluminum Mac Pro to dual 6 core 3.3 Ghz Westmere processors, GTX 680 graphics card and 48Gb of RAM. It now bench-scores better than the top of the line trash can machines. And it cost me only about a grand to do the upgrades.
Will ride it out for another few years, and see where it goes. |
Re: The Mac Pro lives
Maybe Avid will have a new i/o/DSP combo box out that runs on TB3 by then and no one will have to worry about PCIe cards anymore.

Re: The Mac Pro lives
Or maybe the future "Mac Pro" slots will be incompatible with the HDX cards as well as the previous PCIe Accel variety, and require the hotly anticipated Yellowstone Mac OS that only supports Logic 11.0a.
