Loss of mix/mastering when bouncing to MP3
Hi there, first time poster.
So I recently completed a track, which I mixed and mastered to avoid distortion, yet when I bounce the track to disk (whether online or offline, with highest quality mp3) distortion that wasn't there has been introduced to the mp3, panning is gone, and my levels are off. Any suggestions? BTW I'm working with Pro Tools 12.8.1, Dell Latitude with Windows 10 64-bit, and a Steinberg UR44 interface. |

What does it sound like if you bounce it as a lossless file? So wav/aiff. Same issue?

Nope, no problem with a WAV file.
Thanks for the help, still wish I knew why it wasn't coming out right as an MP3 though ... |
Re: Loss of mix/mastering when bouncing to MP3
There’s no reason why that should happen. None at all.
If you take that wav and convert it to mp3 in another app like iTunes, I’m assuming it sounds correct? If so, that’s a workaround for the time being until you can resolve the issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Since you're on Windows, try converting the Wave file with VLC.

Doesn’t it use QuickTime to do the conversion? Maybe there’s something going on with that?
Also have a look and check the channels you’re bouncing out from Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What exactly are you bouncing? One of the tracks in the session or the main output? That would seem to be the first thing to suspect here.
