How to connect Control 24 to Macbook Pro
I have a Control 24 and a Macbook Pro (intel) running protools 9.
Is there a 3rd party interface that would allow me to utilize the 16 preamps in the control 24 and route them to the Macbook Pro? I can already use the Control 24 as a controller, but I need a converter to get the audio from the C24 into protools. (All 16 channels) Thank you. |

Incidentally, I know how to do this with a G5 or mac pro, but I am wanting to use my Macbook Pro, just to be clear.

Any firewire interface with 16 channels of analog input will work so long as it supports core audio. There are a lot of options for firewire, it really depends on your budget.
If you want better latency than firewire, your other options are(Assuming your macbook pro has one of these connections): 1. Expresscard: I think RME makes some interfaces that will work this way, or you could use an expresscard -> PCIe chassis from magma with a PCIe audio card like HD Native or HDX. 2. Thunderbolt: You can go with either AVID HD Native thunderbolt with an HD IO 16x16, or the UA Apollo interface. AFAIK these are the only thunderbolt audio interfaces so far, but I haven't been following this very closely since I'm not currently shopping for an interface. |
