Adding another 888/24 to mix plus system

I am having trouble adding a second 888/24 io to my mix plus system. I have all the neccessary cables and I have had the system running rock solid for a long time. most recently I have jut wanted to add an additional 8. The isssue is when I connect the 2nd 888/24 to to Y cable port B and I start up protools a screen comes up saying "please turn on digidesign interface and hit ok when ready". Obviously the 888's arealready turned on, word clocked and all the necessary changes have been made in the hardware set up. I know the 2nd interface is functional becasue it has come from another mix plus system. I just want to see if I am missing something. Any help fromsuer with similiar set ups would great

thanks

Re: Adding another 888/24 to mix plus system

Actually the problem still exists. The problem seems to be that the 888 24 I/Os want stay in stand alone mode even on boot up or even when I change it to the correct settings in hardware set up. I have both interfaces hooked using the Y cable into the mix farm.

Note: the system runs rock solid with (1) 888 24/io connected but when I connect the other interface via Y cable both interfaces go into stand alone mode and Pro Tools will not start.

Operating system: Mac OS 9.2.2
Memory: 768
Serial# XB2401TAMMA
MAC OS ROM 9.5.1
Disk Cache 512k
Backside L2 cache: 1MB
Processor Speed: 1000MHZ
2 - processors
Software bundle : 694-4782
Sales order number: M8689LL A

Pro Tools 5.1.3
Mix Plus system
Mix Core and Mix Farm card
2- 888 24 I O connecting with Y cable

Any help from would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem adding an 882/20 to my set-up! G4/OS9/MixFarm/Core/5.1.1TDM. I was sure it was the eBay-bought Mix Farm Card malfunctioning but maybe I just need a BNC cable to clock them together??? It's not a hardware prob cuz the 882 works when plugged into the Core card...the IO Setup and hardware is config. is all solid. I do think the 882 is operating in stand-alone mode also. Misery, sweet misery. At worst, could a Y-Cable run both interfaces off of the Core Card???

Carbon Filter - Do you have Slave Clock Out from the first 888 connected to Slave Clock In on the second 888?

Powercage 9000 - Do you have the Slave Clock connection, as well as a TDM cable connecting the MIX Core and Farm cards (inside the computer)?

I think I know what to do, Go into "Playback Engine" and select the interfaces from there, That should work, Please post your results.

Re: Adding another 888/24 to mix plus system

Do you have a SYNC.
You will need a SYNC to have a common word clock for the additional 888s.
The SYNC will send a common time signal. The way you connect is use the BNC from the SYNC clock out and daisy chain the other 888s- from out to in on the next 888.

I hope this helps.

Cheers...

Can anyone help me with my problem please see TDM mix plus 3 24 I/Os but only get 16 I/Os.

Thanks.

Re: Adding another 888/24 to mix plus system

I am having a problem with my system too. Any help would be appreciated. Here's the sitch:

I have six 888 interfaces all connected to the Mac with 3 mix cards (1 core card and 2 farm cards). The last two interfaces have a loud solid pink noise coming through that I can't isolate. I tried switching the cards around to see if that was the problem, but all that happens is there is no signal coming through when I put an instrument in, and the VU's keep jumping randomly on all the channels with no actual sound coming out. It's either a clock, sync, or an unknown frequency that I can't hear. Any idea what this could be?

Thanks in advance.
