ad\\da interfaces for 001 adat
 

Looking for ad\da interfaces for the 001 to utilize the adat connections on the back of the card. ANy feed back would be helpful on what everyone out here thinks what would be best solution.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Alesis Ai-3. I'm also looking around. Also, There is one made by sta audio or st audio in musiciansfriend.com
It looks a little nicer than the Alesis, but I haven't heard anything about it.

well there are lots of ways you can do this. I guess it all depends on how much money you are willing to spend. Lets make a small list shall we?

The absolute cheapest way to get adat in is to buy a broken ADAT machine. ADATs are natorious for breaking, however what almost always breaks is the tape heads. They are still good units of doing the A/D converting. You just run audio threw them but you can't use the tape function.

Next are the lower priced units that go for aroun 300 bucks. The alesis AI-3 is one. It is pretty popular around here.

Then we get a little higher with the Tango 24 from frontier design. It runs about 699.

The swissonic AD24 MKII will do A/D for around 799. However you have to get it's brother the DA24 MKII for about $630 to do D/A.

Next, and my personal favorite is RME's ADI 8 AE. It goes for around $1200. It does all of the same things as the ADI-8 DS except it has a little bit lower head room. It does great A/D and D/A

And at the top of the list for 8 channel converters, is the Apogee AD8000 which just does A/D for around 6 Grand.
