8 channels gone haywire

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,

Having an issue with several channels on my 192. I'm getting intermittent, yet steady, crackling and static noises from those channels, even with nothing being input to them. These noises get printed to if those channels are recording, making them unusable. This issue appeared out of nowhere and I'm curious if anyone has encountered this. This I/O is slaved to 192 above it in the picture. Since I can't attach a video, imagine those green signal lights flickering on and off.

Thank you,

John

I had the same thing happen to one of my 192s. I put it on a shelf and went on with life. If it turns out to be an easy fix, let me know.

Things to check:
1-try each 192 alone(disconnect the other)
2-pull and reconnect the loop sync cables(and make sure they are routed correctly)
3-is anything connected to digital inputs on either IO? If yes, disconnect and test.

What is plugged to that bank of 8 inputs? Unplug it (from the back of the 192). If it doesn’t go away (with nothing hooked up), you might have a faulty digital card.

Post a screenshot of your ProTools hardware setup showing that interface: Main tab and Digital in tab

It may also be worth popping the lid and reseating all connections:o

popped it open yesterday. looks like the card has some water damage. Over time it looks like parts of the card have started to corrode - I'm assuming this is the culprit. Studio owner picked this up second-hand a few years ago and I guess wasn't aware. Thanks for the input guys!
