Audio Engine Issues
2 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I'm trying out ProTools First, version 2020.9.0 I run Windows 10 home. It's a Dell XPS 15. 32 gig ram, i7. I can't get it to works because the audio engine is greyed out and can not change it. I do not have another sound card other than the windows one, and I do not have an audio interface. I've attached screenshots of what it say when I try and open it up. Can anyone offer me some advice? Regards, Rob |
Re: Audio Engine Issues
The Realtek driver does not offer the inputs/outputs that you need for PT First.
I really don't endorse the use of ASIO4ALL because of it's terrible performance and extra steps to setup, but... if you just want to play around and get used to the PT interface, that is probably your only option. Your best bet would be to pick up an external USB audio interface that you can use with PT. Focusrite, Presonus and MOTU all make affordable interfaces that would give you a usable recording system. |
Re: Audio Engine Issues
Hi Will,
Thanks for this. I cannot believe that ProTools does not work on a standard PC without having to buy an interface. I have tried, Mixcraft, Cubase, Studio One, Live and other DAWs and they all functioned without an interface. I'll be dumping ProTools then. Thanks for the help. Cheers, Rob |
