Mix core card failing digitest

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I'm attempting to put together an older TDM system consisting of a PowerMac G4 800 a mix core card and a mix farm card. I run both PT 5.1.1 and 6.4.1.

No matter what I do, my mix core card will not pass digitest, sometimes the mix core card is not recognized at all. Pro Tools will not launch. I have even replaced the mix core card with a brand new one and same deal. I've seen this issue on forums before but no resolution. I think it's hardware related but I'm not sure it's the core card.

Please help if you can! Thanks.

Have you tried the card in a different slot in the computer?

Is it possible you have 2 bad cards?

I have tried the core card in all slots. Additionally I have put my farm card in all slots and it passes digitest fine.

The latest is that digitest won't see the card at all and pro tools says unable to create DAE deck.

It sure feels like a bad card to me but this is the second card that I've tried with the same error. The cards came from the same company so maybe there's a bad batch?

You have got an interface connected when running DigiTest?

I would agree on the first point. As for there being a 'bad batch' - given that we haven't made those cards for probably close to 8 years, it may be that you got ones with component failure or that haven't been handled properly.

Was the dealer able to confirm or deny that the first card you sent back to them worked or not in their system?

Second to that... Sure sounds like you have a problem with interface rather than the card.. Interface must provide clocking to the card for system to work, you cannot use Pro Tools without an interface connected to the first Core card. You cannot run digitest either if interface is not connected. Or maybe you have a bad interface cable? A pin that is bent? I've seen interface cables been inserted other way around on the card side, can be done with enough muscle.
Other things to check is to be sure cards are seated properly, digilink cable is seated properly? Look for bent pins on that cable as well. Delete preferences.
