I have installed, upgraded and re-installe the software over and over but still get the same message. I also removed all the folders suggested in support section but still cannot get it to work...any ideas?

Re: Please help - Pro Tools 8 LE Crashes when launched

Any 3rd party plugins? Is it crashing when opening the software, or when opening a session?

Re: Please help - Pro Tools 8 LE Crashes when launched

There are no 3rd party plug-ins at the moment and yes, it crashes when launched. It does not even get to open the pro tools display that suggests it is loading rather it just comes up with a message that the programme close unexpectedly!

Re: Please help - Pro Tools 8 LE Crashes when launched

Having a similar issue, which came out of nowhere earlier today:

PTLE 8.0.3 crashes about 2 seconds into the splash screen. Uninstalled PTLE (safe), trashed prefs, del database files, etc., reboot and then installed 8.0.0 back on, which did at least launch, but then applying the 8.0.3 update & we're back to square one.

The threads already in DUC mentioning removal of CHUD don't apply to me, nor is this a plug-in problem (booting doesn't get anywhere near the plug-in scan). Also note that my system was working fine with OSX 10.6.2 for weeks prior to this but out of desperation I installed 10.6.3 combo in the hope it might fix something potentially broken in the OS. No joy.

I pasted the crash log below - pls note that this installation of PTLE has been working flawlessly for about 5-6 weeks already. No changes to my system recently.

Many thanks,

Dan

Re: Please help - Pro Tools 8 LE Crashes when launched

Figured it out. Too many fonts in the User/Library/Fonts folder was causing PTLE8 to crash on launch.

I'd copied about 800 OTF / TTF files off my old laptop to the desktop and disabled them in FontBook. FontBook didn't take care of it apparently, and they have to be removed from the User directory all together.
