003 only shows 10 inputs and outputs
 

I'm running pt 12 on a 2017 mac book pro using usb c to thunderbolt to firewire 800. It works, but how can I get it to recognize all the inputs of the 003? I can use the 8 analog inputs on the 003 and 2 channels of S/PDIF

Have you get anything plugged into the ADAT expansion? If not, you’re not going to see any extra inputs.

No, I don't. So once I get an ADAT preamp and hook it up, it will show up?

Well, you need to explain what you mean by ‘show up’.

Are you talking about in the I/O tab?

Either way, you’re not going to be able to access those inputs if they don’t exist. =P

Sorry, Yes the I/O tab. I was able to hook up a friends a/d thru adat and the channels showed up.

In the I/O setup page on pt 12, how can I add mic preamps to the preamps tab?

you can’t unless you have midi controlled preamps. If you want to understand all this it is described in the Pro Tools Reference Guide. What problems are you having actually using the hardware?

ok. I wasn't having any problems. I was just curious as to why the adat inputs wouldn't show up. But it makes sense now that it will only show up if i have adat hooked up.

Things that matter for this:
#1-the session sample rate. the lightpipe in ADAT mode only operates at 44.1 and 48K(so the higher sample rates will not work thru ADAT optical).
#2-Hardware Setup>Optical Format; is it set to ADAT or SPDIF?

Assuming the session is 44.1 or 48K and Optical Format is set to ADAT, it might be as simple as hitting the DEFAULT button(Setup>IO>Input tab), or simply adding the paths and connecting via the grid:o
