Re: Graphics bug, OSX, PT 12.7.1

i'm seeing exactly the same graphics lag on my system (Late 2013 trashcan, 12 core 2.7ghz, 64gb ram s 10.11.6)

really bloody annoying as it was working perfectly before the update, now every edit pauses before moving the clips!

Hope Avid gets this sorted quickly.

I'm having this problem as well, the graphics get sluggish when I'm adjusting a parameter in another window (plug-in)... still, an improvement over El Capitan where I experienced sluggish graphics all the time.

Same here, mixer's meters go jumpy and sluggish everytime you open and tune parameters on a plugin window, even the bundled ones, and its worse when plugins have meters also. On El Capitan the gfx interface was nearly unusable for me, it got much better with Sierra (with no intervention from Avid), but it's not smooth as one would expect. I guess it had to do with the gfx engine change in the OS, but since it only happens with PT, I opened a support case and Avid aknowledged the issue, and told me they were working on it, but it is clear that it's still not the case.

What is your graphics card?
I replaced the Radeon 5770 with a r280x and my computer issues have pretty much disappeared. I have the Mac pro 51. 12 core 3.33. 128 gigs ram.
12.7.1 hd
Latest supported version of osx sierra.

Hello Arche3,

Something total different; but I believe 96 gigs of ram is the max the 5.1 can address right? Or not?

I bought it on eBay. Seller macmotive

But here is another exact same type. Different seller. Flashed card.

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/252906323832

One issue. This card requires 2 pcie power connections. The older cards just 1. So if you have an hdx card you cannot use this card. As hdx uses one of the 2 available pcie power leads.

I have 2 hdx rigs setup differently with same card.

Solution 1, Pcie to pcie chassis magma eb7 for the hdxcards. What I am using now for my hdx3 system.

Solution 2, on my 2nd hdx1 rig. I installed a 2nd power supply sitting on top of Mac pro and ran pcie graphics power cable to the r9280x. Through an opening in back pcie slots on Mac pro. This was kinda hard. I used a few 8 inch extenders to reach. But worked out. But then I needed the pcie slot for a usb3 card so I made a small hole in front of cheese grate and put the power leads through there. I finished hole off with round grommets.

Lot of 8 Large Rubber Grommets 1.5"(1-1/2") Inside Diameter - Fits 1-3/4" Holes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQTBK4S..._BjUDhaXfu5WQb

I am glad I spent the effort. And money for eb7 on my hdx3 rig. There is some info about using 2nd power supply for Mac pro.

Much cheaper than getting 2 new trashcans. Now I can wait for awhile for the new max pro expandable versions or just sit on these for a few years.

Graphic card makes a big difference
Had the Radeon he 7950 mac edition, still getting errors.
Tried a nvidia 1080-8 And no errors.
(Mac flashed MVC)
Fans upshift after boot but settle down.
