PCIx - PCIe Magma and Heat

Hey guys,

Just acquired one of these chassis and decided to pool together all our old PCIx cards and build one bad a s s HD6 rig for our main room, which also frees up 2 slots of our Mac Pro to put in a UAD card and perhaps an eSata or USB3 card.

However, I've noticed that there's some mad heat being generated now haha. You guys usually leave your top lid off the Magma when you have this many cards? I've taken the lid off, and put a vent panel above the Magma in the rack and I think it helps but I wanna make sure that this isn't doing anything bad to the natural designed airflow of the chassis.

Thanks!
Sig

I've had the top of the Magma off for years and have had no problems that I know of.
