Confirming academic eligibility is required for renewal

I just bought the renewal of my perpetual educational vanilla license.
I got the activation code from Sweetwater. I give it in on my account on the Avid website. They ask me to renew my education eligibility. It is valid till september 2019!!!!!!! WTFK!!!! Give me what i paid for already, I am entitled according to your rules. DO NOT MAKE ME WASTE MORE OF MY VALUABLE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did the whole educational thing a while back as a mature student, but I’ve been out of that loop for a few years now.

However, I do recall that in Avid’s T&C they required you to prove your academic eligibility again each time you bought an upgrade/renewal. You couldn’t just use your previous eligibility, even if still valid. You have to resubmit it again.

On the plus side, it was also in their T&C back then that you could still buy at academic rates up to six months after you eligibility ended. You probably want to check if that is still true though, don’t rely on historic knowledge.

I will still be teaching next year. So , no problem there. It is just that this should not be happening.
This is no way tot treat your customers. This company should not be able to get away with it.

Why it is unreasonable to check validity every year? I started my studies in 1998 and still haven't graduated. So am I eligible? Yes and no. Yes I haven't graduated, but no I'm not a full-time student (never been by the way). Annoying? Yes. Reasonable? Also yes (IMO)

In this instance, NO. I am according to Avid, still eligible till september. So if I buy now, I should not reapply. In september yes, not now. This is just an example of how this company treats its customers.

With Steinberg, if your eligibilty is not been checked for a year, you have to redo it. NOT AFTER 9 or 10 months. This is ridiculous. I am really getting fed up with the way they treat people.

I have no idea who makes policies but in this case I wouldn't have gone fusion. Maybe just me but if there is EDU pricing there are also EDU rules

I know you wouldn't.
You have a nasty habit of defending them in any case.
Oh well, I will jump through their hoops for the last time.
I have been thinking of leaving for a long time.
I even do not use PT anymore. Just keep it current because of some weird loyalty.
I actually use Reaper, Samplitude, Logic or Cubase, according to the circumstances.

This will probably be the last straw.
They just seem to want to alienate their loyal customers (15 years).

What do you have to do to prove your eligibility? Does the EDU license you purchased take you beyond the 9/19 date you referenced above? That may be the reason.

Here's the "weird" thing...the valuable time you spent posting this after getting upset may have been better spent submitting the eligibility which you'll have to do anyway...right?

Really. You don't think I realise that.

I am a bass and music teacher with full tenure.
Have been for years.

All I can say is, this is not the way 95% of the companies do it.
Only the ones who seem to like to harass their customers. :-)

Ummm because they want to see/check you are still eligible.... I think avid has the right if they going to offer you a reduced price product that you continue to be eligible for that product. Although I does seem odd they would offer a perpetual lic on an Edu ver of PT considering being student tends to be temporary. Unless you need updates stay with what you have nothing changes
