OT - CPU fan on constantly
Hi all,
Tonight my CPU fan started running when I switched my PC on and has not stopped. Is this an issue? I dont record inthe same room so noise is not a problem - although its not the quietest. Will it wear out, can I fix it? If so how?? Cheers Neil. |
Re: OT - CPU fan on constantly
Your CPU fan is supposed to run all the time.
A processor can fry in seconds without it. |

Thanks JMS40 for the reply.
I worded the question incorrectly. It's not that the fan is on that is the problem, it's the speed it's turning at. Previously it was variable deplending ont he heat of the processor. Now it sounds like there is a single engine prop plane in my pc about to take off. Neil. |
Re: OT - CPU fan on constantly
Sounds like the pentium-m situation or similiar where PTLE 7.0 causes the CPU to load at 100%, hence turning some fans on to full blast or as you say, a the sound of a single engine prop plane emanating from your computer . Well known issue.
